The coolness aspect sometimes surpasses the practical value, just a little, of this combination LG microwave toaster. Don’t get mixed up–the oven looks great, gets top-notch reviews from visitors who come across it. It invites lots of inquiries about the product. And it works just fine.
The stainless steel is a great, modern look. Having both tools in one appliance seems like a great idea. And, for what it’s designed to do, it works fine.
The one main problem is that, despite ads praising its time-saving qualities, it’s not quite true. If you are unable run the microwave and toaster at the same time, the time-saving aspect seems to be absent.
As a space saver, this is indisputably a perfect product to have. Though it is pretty huge, it doesn’t take up nearly as much space as having two devices. It weighs about 39 pounds, which is quite practical.
The toaster, which is a bit noisy, still works well. It features nine browning levels. It does get quite hot, so be careful, but you use your own settings or follow those set for toast or bagels.
The microwave is a fabulous device. The oven offers all kinds of guidance and recommendations on specific food preparation. For instance, the defrost setting goes from meat, poultry, fish and bread, and then offers a timed setting based on weight. Sometimes you have to disregard the automated settings though. So, if you have a frozen item that needs a specific time, such as 90 seconds, clear the kitchen timer and set your own times.
The auto-cook feature offers settings for potatoes, frozen entrees, frozen vegetables, fresh vegetables and a dinner plate. It, too, then sets the timing for each item.
The settings and recommended cook times are excellent. When abiding by them, we have never had something under or over cooked.
The best feature is how it handles popcorn. The settings are perfect. We have never had a problem and the popcorn turns out flawlessly popped.
This microwave also has a turntable, a clock and timer, 10 power levels, an easy-on setting, five auto-cook levels, and a child lock should you call for one. The timers sound fairly loud, but conveniently so in a rowdy home.
It also features a detachable tray to clean the toaster. After all, it would be difficult to try to tip a 39-pound domestic device upside down to shake out over the trash in order to pour out the crumbs.
The warranty covers the appliance for a year. One worry is that if one part, say, the toaster, breaks down, you’d also be without the other part. But you have to be positive and believe that such a dilemma will not come about.
